Marcus Gunn phenomenon with paradoxical oculo-palpebral movements.

چکیده
THE following case of congenital ptosis with Marcus Gunn phenomenon (Gunn, 1883) is interesting because of its unusual association with multiple paradoxical oculo-palpebral movements (Duke-Elder, 1952). Case Report An 18-year-old girl came for cosmetic correction of a congenital ptosis of the right upper lid with alternate divergent strabismus of about 150. The Marcus Gunn phenomenon was also present (Fig. 1). Details of other anomalies in the oculo-palpebral movements are given in the Table (opposite), and the nine positions of gaze are shown in Fig. 2.

Marcus-gunn phenomenon with- mitral valve prolapse
Marcus-gunn phenomenon is a congenital and sometimes hereditary anomaly, in which a ptotic eyelid retracts momentarily when the mouth is open, or the jaw is moved. These associated movements attributed to abnormal connections between the central mechanisms innervating the pterygoid and elevator muscles. Sometimes this anomaly is associated with dual,s retraction syndrome, duplex kindneys and ur...
متن کاملMarcus Gunn phenomenon associated with synkinetic oculopalpebral movements.
THE Marcus Gunn phenomenon is a well-known clinical entity wherein abnormal palpebral movements are associated with movements of the jaw. No record has been found in the literature of a case in which an associated concomitant convergent strabismus corrected itself automatically with the elevation of the ipsilateral ptotic lid when the jaw was opened or when ptosis was passively or surgically co...

OBJECTIVE The aim of this paper is to review existing literature on the subject and to report on and discuss a case of Marcus Gunn Phenomenon. DESCRIPTION A five year-old female, otherwise a healthy patient, while still a few months old, was seen by a pediatrician who detected a disorder of the right eye, initially believed to be strabismus, at a follow-up childcare consultation. Several opht...
متن کاملSurgical Outcomes in Cases of Marcus-Gunn Jaw-Winking Phenomenon.
BACKGROUND Markus-Gunn Jaw-winking Phenomenon (MGJW) is a congenital ptosis associated with synkinetic movement of upper lid on masticating movements of jaw. It results from aberrant connection between motor division of trigeminal nerve and oculomotor nerve. OBJECTIVE To investigate the clinical characteristics of MGJW phenomenon and evaluate its surgical outcomes of unilateral levator excisi...
متن کاملA case with a rare type of trigemino-oculomotor synkinesis: clinical and blink reflex study.
Several abnormal synkinetic eye movements during jaw movements may often be seen after trauma or congenitally in the Marcus Gunn jaw winking phenomenon. The most frequent type consists of unilateral ptosis and retraction of the ptotic lid upon moving the jaw. The authors describe a case with isolated simultaneous adduction of the left eye upon jaw movement. This paper presents a rare case of Ma...
